So I was just diagnosed today. I have had a cluster of blistery sores on the bottom of my left foot. They have come and gone for about a year, I thought it was just a fungus so I tried anti fungal cream from the store. It made it hurt SO bad....maybe partially because my sores had just opened up and it was fresh new skin underneath? Anyway, I finally went in today. My doctor said its herpes. She said i could get outbreaks anywhere on my body...and that it is spread by skin to skin contact. I am so scared I am going to pass this along to my son. I feel so much like everyone else I have seen posting here. Alone. Scared. I feel diseased and like if I touch anyone they could get infected. Has anyone else had outbreaks other than on your genitals? My doctor prescribed me acyclovir. Has anyone had any experience with this med? How long until I should see improvement? I have so many questions. I don't know where I got it or how long I have had it. Anything anyone could share would be helpful. Thanks.

It is good to get a second opinion. In this case it is very important to know the right answer. You are number one and you need to take care of yourself. You are in my prayers. Have faith and God bless you.

Thanks. Do I really need a second opinion? My doctor has a son who has herpes so I would think she knows it when she sees it..right? She is very knowledgeable too...thank you for the prayers.

My boyfriend gets outbreaks on his hand. I am assuming that its the same deal as him. It can come out anywhere because it flares in the nerve endings. At least that is how my dr explained it to him. The meds are not a miracle by any means. They shorten the duration of the outbreak....may take a while before you notice any change.

Good to know. I sure haven't seen any improvement yet, but I have only been on acyclovir for 2 days. I appreciate all the helpful information.
