Can't tell if I'm having an outbreak or not. help

Posted in Group:

I've had herpes for over a year now and I've been having sex with a guy consistently. (He knows about it and says he's not worries about it.) I have a hard time telling if I'm having a outbreak or not. I believe I have the simplex one. I've never had a cold sore on my mouth before. After I have sex the skin between my vagina and my anus gets very sore and swollen. (That's where my intial outbreak started)
I never really see blisters or bumps. And peeing doesn't hurt like it did with my first outbreak. Please help me I've been stressing about this for so long now I just wanna cry every day.

Have you been diagnosed by a doctor? If no you need to do it asap. If yes, call your clinic and ask if you are positive for hsv1 or hsv2. They are both herpes but they act differently and have different consequences. Also ask your doctor to put you on a suppressive therapy so your partner has less chance of catching it.

I am in the same boat as you. I've been diagnosed a month ago and my first outbreak was really mild with no pain, no burn, no swelling, even my doctor thought it was just an ingrown hair at first. Before I took Valtrex daily I was always in a panic when I felt an itch or a burn and it would turned out most of the time it was just hitching cause I had shaven. When my doctor put me on daily doses of Valtrex I relaxed a great deal. Actually my doctor suggested it to me not because I'm in pain but more to help me deal with it psychologically for now and it's working, I don't panic anymore at the feel of a twitch.

If you're not sure just wait it out and don't have sex but I think like me, you need to be on a suppressive treatment to calm yourself down. All that nervousness will bring on outbreaks.

You're very lucky your guy is still around.

oooh reebok...your horns are showing again! lol when you get sore in the place you had your first outbreak you are probably shedding the virus. like jane says...need to get on valtrex. lots of people have it and never know so he very well may have it. I'm kinda scared to shave down there. If I cant see its not there. lol. I have trimmed...so I dont look like a gorilla...but scared to shave...then i will be able to see every bump or red spot...even th ones that have nothing to do with hsv! llol

it takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. -ee cummings
